“I miss my boyfriend”
Kharkiv’s community was his home. Photo shoots in night clubs, runways, drag shows – before the war, this was Viktor’s life.
After the war broke out, Viktor fled with his parents to live on the countryside. He gave up his life in the big city to take care of his mother and father. His boyfriend went to Poland where he works on a construction site. He works hard. They can only keep in touch via video call. They have not seen each other for three months.
A small life in western Ukraine
It is a sad and heavy life, but Viktor believes that everything will be fine in the end. What he needs most now is wood for his parents to heat their homes in winter, and also nappies. Help if you can! VIDEO: Click on the picture
In our video series “How queer people in Ukraine experience the war” LGBTIQ* from different parts of Ukraine describe what they are going through these days. Some have left the country, others stay and try to survive. It’s a struggle.
Here is how you can help:
Individual help
Munich Kyiv Queer has its own fundraising campaign via www.paypal.me/ConradBreyer to support people in Ukraine with whom we have worked closely over the past ten years. They are our friends and partners. We know them personally and we miss them. We can help fast, directly and unbureaucratically.
Help for LGBTIQ* organisations
To support LGBTIQ* in Ukraine we have helped set up the Alliance Queer Emergency Aid Ukraine, in which around 40 German LGBTIQ* Human Rights organisations are involved. All these groups have access to very different Human Rights organisations in Ukraine and use funds for urgently needed care or evacuation of queer people. Every donation helps and is used 100 percent to benefit queer people in Ukraine. Donate here
