Samantha Jackson is Bavaria’s first Ukrainian drag queen and has taken people’s hearts by storm with her voice, her charm and her message. The six-foot icon (in heels!) was forced to leave her homeland because of the war.

She is now a well-known artist in Munich and, with her opera voice trained in Odessa, has already appeared on stage in numerous productions; she sings pop and gay anthems. Her cause: a life in freedom!

Christina Parficheva is our all-rounder and still quite new to the team. The Ukrainian woman is quite a busy bee, because she’s far too curious to focus on just one thing. She’s spent years working at international film festivals and for start-ups, set up a zero-waste shop in Odesa, and loves organising events – which we love! Drag is her latest passion.

And these are Christina and Samantha’s guests

She is a legend of the Ukrainian drag scene, an artist who has shaped an entire era. The name Dana National is synonymous with the early days of drag art in Ukraine; to this day, she remains an icon there. She has made a name for herself on television, on international tours, in films and through music videos such as Hurts’ “Beautiful Ones”.

Her performances are not about genres or conventions, but about precision. She meticulously crafts every performance, blending acting skill with musicality. In this way, she creates an intense connection with her audience. Dana National effortlessly shifts between moods, energy levels and rhythms. Her style strikes a balance between glamour, boldness and sharp self-deprecation.

Dana National

is an artist who does not explain herself or conform to expectations. She sets the tone, breaks with convention and creates a space in which her art speaks for itself.

Even when he was at school, Panas Poltava was desperate to travel and dreamed of becoming a lorry driver. However, going on tour and giving concerts proved to be far more exciting, so he decided to learn opera arias and study at the conservatoire. After that,

Panas Poltava

travelled through the Czech Republic, Poland and Romania, sweeping the board at international competitions. For a while he sang in the theatre and quite frequently at the Philharmonic Hall; he taught the lovely Samantha to sing, and now travels the world by all manner of transport, accompanied by cheerful songs.

Maksym Svirenko rose to fame in Ukraine as a contestant on the TV show “X-Factor”, where he stood out for his charisma and bold performances. The singer from Berdychiv is regarded as a representative of Ukraine’s younger generation of artists.

Maksym Svirenko

His work combines jazz elements with deep emotion and a powerful stage presence. Maksym has performed extensively both in Ukraine and abroad, usually accompanied by jazz or wind orchestras, which has always given his concerts a distinctive sound.

He describes his artistic philosophy as follows: “I am reborn every day to give a part of myself to the world.” He puts this into practice time and again on stage, turning every performance into a personal experience for the audience.

Stas Mi, also known as Mr Robokov and a member of the duo Squareplatz, is a Ukrainian audiovisual artist who lives and works in Munich. The aim of his artistic work is to use his art to give a voice to the LGBTIQ* community.

Stas Mi

From photo exhibitions and his involvement in Kyiv’s queer community to music production for independent artists and his own DJ sets: every project is imbued with personal experiences and a distinctive ‘rainbow’ aesthetic.

Markian Strotsiak is a 21-year-old artist from Ukraine who currently lives and works in Berlin. As a juggler, he captivates his audience with his technical precision and expressive stage presence.

Markian Strotsiak

He has already performed on prestigious stages, including the Friedrichstadt Palast and the Wintergarten Varieté in the production Snow Queen. For him, his art is not just a job, but a true calling and a great passion.

Despite his success abroad, he remains closely connected to his homeland. Once the war is over, he plans to return to Ukraine and contribute to the revival and further development of the local arts scene.

Divas Milk
Divas Milk

Divas Milk is a Ukrainian drag queen, singer, DJ and presenter who is unafraid to express her emotions on stage. Her performances are a blend of music, performance art and personal story. Glamour meets depth.

Divas Milk

creates a space where drag is not just a visual delight, but a form of freedom. As she herself points out, drag is a way of speaking about oneself without censorship and of breaking down social stereotypes.

And last but not least: Drag King Herr Schaftlich ensures the stage is spotlessly tidy. Herr Schaftlich is like the friendly neighbour next door: he’d lend you his balls in a heartbeat. On 7 August, however, he’ll simply be tidying up the stage for us.

This is how you can donate

INDIVIDUAL HELP Munich Kyiv Queer has its own fundraising campaign via https://www.paypal.me/ConradBreyer to support queer people in Ukraine who are in need or on the run. Why? Because not all LGBTIQ* are organised in the local LGBTIQ*-groups. This help is direct, fast and free of charge if you choose the option “For friends and family” on PayPal. If you don’t have PayPal, you can alternatively send money to the private account of Conrad Breyer, speaker of Munich Kyiv Queer, IBAN: DE427015000021121454.

All requests from the community are meticulously checked in cooperation with our partner organisations in Ukraine. If they can help themselves, they take over. If the demands for help exceed their (financial and/or material) possibilities, we will step in.

HELP FOR LGBTIQ* ORGANISATIONS To support LGBTIQ* in Ukraine we have helped set up the Alliance Queer Emergency Aid Ukraine, in which around 40 German LGBTIQ* Human Rights organisations are involved. All these groups have access to very different Human Rights organisations in Ukraine and use funds for urgently needed care or evacuation of queer people. Every donation helps and is used 100 percent to benefit queer people in Ukraine. Donate here
